Each year on the 3rd Wednesday in May, bicycling clubs around the world host a cycling event known as the Ride of Silence. This ride aims to raise the awareness of motorists, police and city officials of cyclists’ legal right to use public roadways. The ride is also an opportunity to show respect for and honor the lives of cyclists who have been injured or killed while cycling. As the name of the ride suggests, participants are asked to not speak during the ride.
In the interest of everyone’s safety, masks will be available for the riders to wear and we will also be encouraging social distancing before and during the ride.
Cascades Cycling Club will host this very important event in Jackson on Wednesday, May 19 starting from Horace Blackman Park. Please join us for this event as we pay tribute to riders who have been injured or killed while cycling. Plan to arrive by 6:45 p.m. as the ride will begin at 7:00 p.m.
