Slow Spokes Rides for May 2007

Weekly events

Every Tuesday 6:00 pm     Macomb Orchard Trail Ride

Leader: Mark Mau. Distance 20-25 miles. Pace 12-14. Terrain flat. Meet in the parking lot on SE Corner of 25 mile and Shelby Road.

Wednesday mornings 10:00 am     Senior Spin

Leaders: Evelyn Bires/Aloys Turck. Distance 20-25 miles. Pace 10-12. Terrain flat. Bring Snack. Different locations every Wednesday.
May 2 & 9: Macomb Orchard Trail - meet at Onyx Ice Arena - corner of 24 mile and Dequindre.
May 16 & 23: Harsen's Island. Meet at the McDonald's in Algonac.
May 30: Jefferson Avenue. Meet at Shopping Center at Jefferson and Marter.

Every Wednesday 6:00 pm     Freedom Hill Ride

Leaders: Bob Grabe/Mark Mau. Distance 20-25 miles. Pace 14-16. Terrain flat. Freedom Hill to Metro Beach and back.

Troy Wednesday Wramble will not meet in May - we will begin in June.

Every Thursday 6:00 pm     Jefferson Ride

Leader: Carol Green. Distance 30 miles. Pace 15-17 early in month, 16-18 later. Terrain flat. Meet in the parking lot at Masonic & Jefferson. We will ride either into Mt. Clemens or Grosse Pointe.

One time rides

Wednesday, May 16, 2007, 7:00 pm     Ride of Silence

This is a worldwide ride -- slow paced to honor cyclists who've been injured or killed by motorists while riding. There are multiple local rides. The newsletter lists the one meeting at the Belle Isle Fountain Area.

Friday, May 18, 2007, 6:00 pm     Rookie Rampage - Freedom Hill

Leader: Kim Mau. Distance about 10 miles, pace 10. Terrain flat. Meet at Freedom Hill for a small ride with snacks when we return.

Saturday, May 19, 2007     Automotive History Tour

Leader: Bob George. Distance 15-20 miles. Pace of the slowest rider. Meet at Belle Isle Casino. Ride to tour Henry Ford's first factory. Bring $10 for tour. See details in Newsletter.

Sunday, May 20, 2007, registration starts 7:00 am.     Lupus Loops Ride

The ride raises money to fight Lupus. There is a 6.5 mile casual ride, a 31, 40 and 62 mile road routes, and a 17.5 mile off road route. All routes start in Stony Creek Metro Park. Registration before May 15th is $15.00 and after May 15th $20.00.

Friday, May 25, 2007, 6:00 pm     Rookie Rampage - Freedom Hill

Sunday, May 27, 2007, 8:30 am     Make a Run for the Border

Leader: Tom Miller. Distance 43 miles, pace 12-14. Terrain flat. Meet at Majestic Plaza Shopping Center at SE corner of Van Dyke and Martin Road. Visit East Side, Belle Isle, Downtown, Corktown, Greektown, Comerica Park and Ford Field.
