2001 Time Trial Summary

2011 TIME TRIALS

It’s time to dust the winter cobwebs of your bikes and start preparing for the 2011 Time Trials held in Ada Park until Monday August 29th.  (There will be no Time Trial on Memorial Day or the 4th of July.)  We meet at the corner of Grand River and Buttrick in Ada, MI.  Sign up is from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. in the Grand River Parking lot of Ada Park.  MAP  Riders of all abilities are welcome.  If you are a slower or novice rider, arrive early enough to sign up for an early start time or contact the ride coordinator in advance.  We will send the first rider off at 6:30 p.m.  Riders will leave in 30 second intervals.  The course is down in back for a total of approximately 15 miles, and the terrain is flat to gently rolling.

tt8All Time Trialists must join the Rapid Wheelmen to participate.  If you are not a member yet, you may sign up on the Rapid Wheelmen website.  You can print the membership form and liability release and bring them with you to the Time Trials, or you may pay on-line.  Please bring your payment confirmation if you sign up on-line less than a week before you come to the Time Trials.  All Time Trialists must sign an additional Time Trial specific liability release once per year.  It is highly recommended that you sign up in advance, but you may also sign up at the Time Trials if you prefer.

Please note that the Rapid Wheelmen membership fee has increased to $25 per family for one year or $65 per family for 3 years.  Therefore, it will cost $25 per family to participate in the Time Trials for one year if you do not already have a Rapid Wheelmen membership.  We hope the additional expense won’t pose any hardship on any participants.

Please be sure to also thank our sponsor, the Grand Rapids Bicycle
Company, for helping to cover many of the Time Trial expenses.  We looktt10 forward to a great season, and we appreciate their ongoing support.  The shop will be sponsoring a season points contest with prizes.  The contest is designed to reward people for consistent attendance as well as speed with bonus points for volunteering.  See the Points Contest Rules for more information.

It takes a couple dozen volunteers to run the Time Trials for the 4 month season.  If you would like to help by volunteering, or you have any questions about anything, please contact me.

The Time Trials is truly an event for participants at any level of fitness.  We welcome people who have never ridden in a race before as well as tt11seasoned athletes.  There is room for everyone.  If you have never raced before or feel that you may be slower, you can request an early start time
so that you finish with the others.  The only requirement for a Time Trialist is for you to put forth your very best effort.  You will establish your own base time upon your own fitness level.  You can come back as many times as you like throughout the season and try to improve your personal best time.
