Friends of the Pere Marquette Rail-Trail Mission Statement

Our mission is to promote the non-motorized recreational Trail between the towns, or hubs, of Midland and Clare, Michigan and make it one of the best in the State.

We will strive to do this by.

Marketing the Trail:

• Educating the general public on the history and benefits of the Trail

• Publicizing the Trail and events that happen on the trail

• Encouraging membership and business donations to fund the maintenance and enhancement of the Trail

Improving the Trail:

• Continually working to make the Trail the best in the State by supporting its maintenance and upkeep

• Working together with Midland and Isabella County Parks and Recreation Department and the Clare Area Rail to Trail to encourage enhancements made to the Trail e.g. completing the trail thro Clare, Midland loop, etc

• Working to increase accessibility with other areas of interest along the trail e.g. Averill Rollway, etc

Managing Events on the Trail:

• Raising funds from events to contribute to maintaining and developing the Trail

• Participating in other events to promote the Trail

Notes to consider when reviewing the Mission Statement

• Our major focus is within the boundaries of Midland & Clare but we will support efforts by other groups beyond these boundaries.

• We will combine awareness with fund raising

• Our customers are all the people who use the trail, including Cycling Clubs e.g. TriCity Cyclists, FOPMRT members, etc

• Our key partners are City/County groups and other Friends groups
