PALM XXVIII

Welcome to PALM

Hello friends!

Congratulations to everyone who everyone registered for PALM XXVII. As you probably know, this year's ride filled before the end of February!

I am Drew Burton, returning for my second year as Ride Chairman. I represent the more than 70 people on PALM staff who make PALM such a popular ride.

We're doing a southern route in 2008, from New Bufallo on Lake Michigan near the Indiana border to Sterling State Park on Lake Erie near Monroe. You can see more details about the route on our homepage. If you click on the approximate daily mileage you will be taken to a detailed map of the route for that day; clicking on a town name gives more information about our stay there.

This year we have approximately 225 new riders and we love welcoming them. If you are one of these newcomers one of the best ways to get a sense of what awaits you is to view this video made on PALM XXV. Thanks to Mark, the PALMWebGuy, there are also collections of pictures from past rides linked from the left panel on the Home page at 2007 Ride and Pics and PALM 2006 Pictures. There are several other useful pages on this website particularly intended for new riders, especially First Long Bike Tour? and Preparing for PALM. For regular updates from some of our experienced riders please look at the PALM Blog.

PALM is a family ride, often with two and three generations riding together. Our riders are 6 to 90 years old. Some are fast, a lot are slow. This is a camping trip but you're camping with 700 close friends.

I'm looking forward to seeing you Pedaling Across Lower Michigan this summer.
