Come to the Public Information Open House

The City of Lansing is leading a road improvement study in southern Lansing called the IPACE Project and would like to invite you to a Public Information Meeting and Open House. At the Meeting, the City will present the project in general as well as solicit input from the public. The first of three meetings was held on March 1, 2006.

On February 22, 2006 the LMB was invited to sit on the IPACE Advisory Committee. IPACE is an acronym for roads in the project area including the I-96 interchange area, Pennsylvania Ave, American Road, Cedar St and Edgewood Blvd, in the southern part of the Lansing (see map below).

The City of Lansing, in cooperation with the Michigan Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration is leading this study. The project areas has traffic congestion problems which are expected to worsen in the future. The main goals of the project are to:

  • Evaluate current and future traffic operations and identify problems
  • Develop road improvement options to improve and simplify circulation patterns, traffic operations and safety
  • Encourage economic development and redevelopment in the area
  • Create an attractive gateway into the southern part of Lansing
