The League of Michigan Bicyclists is promoting Bicycle Safety Education for elementary school children. The LMB Safety Committee will be awarding bicycle safety literature to assist clubs and organizations with projects. Projects may include but are not limited to the following: literature distribution associated with in-school presentations, bicycle rodeos, PTA presentations and teacher training. Adult presentations must directly impact child safety awareness.

PROGRAM
LMB will print, or purchase a selection of bicycle safety literature and videos appropriate for elementary school children, grade three to five. A few of the pieces will be addressed to the parents. Upon approval of your application, the materials will be sent FREE for your safety projects.

LITERATURE
Up to 250 copies each of the different types of literature will be awarded to the applicant. We hope to provide enough literature to allow a smaller effort to succeed with the LMB's literature alone. We also want to jump-start larger efforts by encouraging the host club to supplement the required literature with their own resources.

ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS
LMB member bicycling clubs and other organizations who have attended any of the Teaching Bicycling Safety workshops will have highest priority.

Applications from all sources, including those from non-member clubs will be accepted if materials are available at the time of the request.

The benefits should last for years. The videos and printed information will provide the basis for your club to continue your Teaching Safe Bicycling Projects.

The LMB Safety Committee hopes that you will find this an exciting way to make a real impact on the safety of the children in your community. Remember that the habits they learn now on their bikes will not only make them safe now, but also will help make them safer automobile drivers later on.
