5th Annual
Lucinda Means Bicycle Advocacy Day
Thursday, May 28 2009 - Lansing
REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED
Are you tired of vehicles buzzing too close to your bicycle? Do you think our roads should have wide shoulders or designated bicycle lanes? Do you dream of a day you can ride in traffic and feel safe?
The Lucinda Means Advocacy Day is your chance to effect change!
On May 28th, LMB and bicyclists from around the state will join forces for a Ride and a Road Rally to the State Capitol building. Our goal is to take our concerns about bicycling and the safety of bicyclists on the roadways in Michigan directly to our state legislators in Lansing.
This event is free, but registration is required. If you ride a bike and want to improve cycling in Michigan, come join us!
After our morning road rally (escorted by local police bike patrols) from the MSU campus to the State Capitol, we will have a short presentation from state legislators and an overview of LMB’s advocacy priorities (see below). Afterward, LMB will have meetings scheduled with your State Representative and Senator for you to discuss the concerns of Michigan cyclists.
Then enjoy lunch on the Capitol grounds compliments of LMB. Conclude your day in Lansing with your choice of a self-guided bicycle ride (route provided) or a guided local-asset ride, where we will ride to and stop at various points of interest within city limits.
Constituents count! We need you to carry these important issues to your representatives:
- Vulnerable User Laws — Enhanced penalties for moving violations causing physical injury or death to bicyclists and other vulnerable roadway users.
