For the fifth year, Bob Krzewinski has obtained the use of the Francois Xavier Bagnoud Building at the University of Michigan for our annual joint Michigan Human Powered Vehicle Association/WolverBents winter meeting. The meeting will be from 1 - 4 p.m. in the Boeing Auditorium. The Bagnoud Building is at the corner of Beal and Hayward streets on the U-M North Campus in Ann Arbor. See the December 2004 newsletter for directions.

As required in Article I of the MHPVA bylaws, we will have our annual election of officers. The six elected positions are president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and two directors. The current officers are: President, Wally Kiehler; Grosse Pointe Woods; vice president, Rick Wianecki, Okemos; secretary, Paul Pancella, Kalamazoo; treasurer, Bill Frey, Grosse Pointe Farms; and board members, Mike Eliasohn, St. Joseph, and Paul Bruneau, Portage.

I encourage other members to bring their ideas and experience to our club and run for these positions.

The agenda for this annual meeting will include the following and may include additional items for discussion:

--Short presentations by the U-M human powered submarine and helicopter teams, starting at 1 p.m.

--A short introduction by everyone in attendance.

--Competition events at the Michigan HPV Rally June 11-12 and entry fee.

--A report on the Human Powered Racing - America directors' meeting Dec. 18.

--Treasurer's annual report.

--Possible equipment purchases and club donations.

--MHPVA Web site update from Webmaster Paul Bruneau and newsletter editor Mike Eliasohn

--Election of officers.

--Show and tell. (Members are encouraged to bring their bikes or projects for display.)

The MHPVA meeting will be followed by the annual WolverBents meeting in the same room.

I want to thank our Webmaster, Paul Bruneau, and newsletter editor Mike Eliasohn for an excellent job in producing one of the best HPV Web sites that I've seen.

Hopefully I'll see you all on February 12th.

-Wally

Note from Mike Eliasohn: At the 2004 annual meeting, only one person brought a vehicle for show and tell. So if you have have anything worth showing to your fellow HPV junkies, please bring it. Also, if you have anything you want to sell or give away (presumably parts), please bring them.
