Description

DALMAC ~ The Dick Allen Lansing to MACkinaw Bicycle Tour is Michigan's Epic, annual, fully-supported, end-of-summer bicycle camping tour. 8 routes wind northward in 2, 3, 4, or 5 days through Michigan's countryside and quaint small towns, from Lansing to up north destinations, ending in Mackinaw City, St. Ignace, or Rudyard. Each route varies in distance, providing just the right challenge for all cyclists, whether beginner or experienced, relaxed paced or speedy. DALMAC is one of the oldest all-volunteer-run tours in the United States, celebrating 48 years of excellence, making DALMAC one of the lowest cost tours in the nation. Many routes cross the Mackinac Bridge!

DALMAC is about bicycling!  DALMAC is about sharing the roads! The tour originated in 1971 when then State Representative Dick Allen of Ithaca challenged his colleagues and constituents with a “ride all the way to the bridge” to prove that bikes and cars could peacefully coexist and share Michigan’s scenic roads safely.

DALMAC staff and crew are exclusively volunteers, primarily from the Tri-County Bicycle Association (TCBA), DALMAC's host organization.

The objectives of DALMAC are to develop an awareness of bicycling and its needs among the citizens of Michigan, to promote bicycling as a healthy means of transportation and recreation, and to encourage wider participation in bicycle use.

DALMAC has grown into one of the best bike tours in the state, if not the country! In recent years, over 1600 riders annually have enjoyed meeting the challenges involved with bicycling 50 to 100 miles each day.

The DALMAC tour underwrites The DALMAC Fund, which annually grants monies for a variety of bicycling purposes. The DALMAC Fund has distributed over $1.4 million to bicycling related projects throughout Michigan.
