Advocacy Day is a unique opportunity for road cyclists and trail users of all abilities – casual riders and die-hards alike – to speak with one voice to help make Michigan bicycling better. Hosted by the League of Michigan Bicyclists (LMB) in partnership with the Michigan Trails and Greenways Alliance, Michigan Mountain Biking Association and PEAC this collaborative effort brings supporters of all four organizations together to educate legislators on key policy issues that facilitate a more bicycle-friendly Michigan.

In 2018, Advocacy Day took place on Wednesday, May 23rd, at the State Capitol in Lansing.

Registration for Advocacy Day 2018 is now closed.

Upon registration, LMB will schedule legislative meetings with your State Representative and State Senator on your behalf. We’ll prepare you with an Advocacy Primer, which will outline key issues and talking points to aid you in effectively communicating with lawmakers prior to the event.  After your meetings, enjoy lunch on the Capitol Lawn.

Preparation:
If you have never communicated with policy makers before, don't worry. No prior experience is needed to participate in Advocacy Day. We'll make sure that you are comfortable with the issue priorities and that you get up to speed quickly. The Advocacy Day Primer will answer most of your general questions.  We will also provide you additional guidance and walk you through the "asks" on the day of the event. Reviewing the Primer and the Issue Papers should prepare you for Advocacy Day. After reviewing the materials, please direct any additional questions to John Lindenmayer by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. Location:
Advocacy Day is held on the northeast lawn of the State Capitol (100 N Capitol Ave, Lansing, MI 48933). Please note that we are not organizing a group ride to the Capitol in 2018. Please come directly to the Capitol. There will be portable bike parking for those still planning to arrive by bike. While the bikes will be watched throughout the day, we strongly encourage you to bring a lock. There are numerous parking structures near the Capitol for those arriving by vehicle.
