THE CLINTON RIVER RIDERS PRESS

March 14, 1982

Feels good to write this letter warmed by sunlight blazing through the window rather than a jetstream of warmed air gushing out of a furnace vent. For a while thee, I thought spring would never come, though now that it has arrived, I dread the eventual monsoon that comes with it. But, like all things, I guess I'll survive it, just like our club has survived its first off season. Not only have we managed to stay together, but we have also grown in numbers and have dared to take on projects most groups never even undertake. As we move into our second year, lets all strive to keep up this momentum. We can reap nothing but benefit from such efforts.
....now where did I hide that damn umbrella

BUSY NEST

Fred's latest treasury report shows us to have a balance of $484.72 in our club checking account. Though the account has served us well, Fred went on to comment that the service charges necessary for maintaining the checking feature are eating up our precious funds. His recommendation that we look to a savings account as a possible alternative met with approval. As soon as he has all the datum assembled, he will report back to us.

At meetings's start, Fred had also reported our membership at 34 individuals and 19 families. However, by meeting's end, those numbers had once again increased. I think that this continuing growth is a positive sign to the metropolitan bicycling community that the CLINTON RIVER RIDERS is a viable and determined presence.

We have set up a ride committee that will help us develop our riding schedule as well as the necessary rules and regulations necessary to conduct them by. The six members in this grouping are Russ, Pete, Walt, Sue, Tim Phillips, and Sandy Beaman. If you have any suggestions or comments, please contact them.

Sue will now be handling all information regarding our upcoming century. All committee heads are to give their progress reports to her.

To all members, new or otherwise, who desire to have a club Jersey, please contact Sue at the store. Sue would prefer to make one large order for them rather than numerous small ones. Please make your decision ASAP as the cycling season is already on us.

Sue still has a number of grey sweat T-shirts in stock at the store. If you are interested in one, they are $5 eacy.

Anyone who does not possess a membership card, please get in contact with me at the next meeting.

RIDINGS

For all you masochistic types out there, the Wolverines are conducting their yearly Belle Isle time trials on April 18th.

The March of Dimes has organized a century ride around the Romeo area for June 6th. They would appreciate any help or participation we might be able to provide. Not a bad idea as it would provide us weth even more club exposure.

Davin and Tim Grayson would like to develop a junior men's team for this year's Belle Isle Marathon. If you are interested in this, please contact Davin either at home or at the store.

The call for a woman's team in the marathon has netted us responses from Sue, Sandy Cryderman, and Sandy Beaman. Any more takers???

See y'all at the April meetin'
