The 2008 Blue Water Ramble will be held Sunday, October 5th, 2008.The Clinton River Riders invite you to ride with us. New routes are being offered this year. We offer a choice of four new routes (30, 45, 65 or 100 miles), of which only the 45 and 100 mile routes will have the option of a ferry crossing into Canada. Riders will enjoy the majesty of fall colors along side the beautiful St. Clair River. Passing ocean freighters and Great Lakes ore carriers offer a view guaranteed to please cyclists of all ages. Entry fee covers: four marked routes; rest stops; hot lunch; international ferry crossings; post ride shower facilities; commemorative gift; and free sag service. ALL of our routes are NEW! We will be having lunch in the U.S. this year so that those of you who do not want to go through Customs don’t have to! The 45 and 100 mile riders will have the option to ride in Canada, but all riding may be done here in the U.S. PLEASE make sure that your name on the application is EXACTLY the same as the name on your identification that you will be providing to CUSTOMS if you plan to ride in Canada. Entry fee covers: four marked routes; rest stops; hot lunch; international ferry crossings; post ride shower facilities; commemorative gift; and free sag service. IMPORTANT RIDE INFORMATION: The 27th annual Blue Water Ramble Bicycle Tour will take place, rain or shine. The ride will begin at St. Clair High School at 2200 Clinton Road in St. Clair, Michigan. 4 FULLY SAGGED ROUTES: The routes include distances of 30, 45, 65 and 100 miles each. The NEW 30 mile route is designed for those who want less miles and less traffic. Some of the 30 mile route will be on paved trail. The 30 and 65 mile routes are in the U.S ONLY. Riders on the 45 and 100 mile routes have the option to ride in Canada. Packet pick up and all routes open at 7:00 am and close at 6:00 pm. All cyclists riding the 100 mile routes must start no later than 9:00 am. All other cyclists must start no later than 10:30 am. Sag wagons will be available to assist riders on all routes during the day and will make a final sweep of all routes at 5:00 pm. LUNCH AND REST STOPS: Each rest stop will include food, drink, restrooms and assistance if needed. The main rest stop will be in the U.S. where a hot lunch will be served. All rest stops and the high school will close at 5:00 pm. HOT SHOWERS: Available after the ride at the high school. Bring your own soap and towels. SHIRTS: 2008 brings lots of fall color to our high quality sweatshirts and t-shirts. The sweatshirts will have a full zipper in a nice navy and have beautiful embroidery on the left chest. The t-shirts will be a nice tan color with a full screenprint. Order shirts with your registration to ensure you don’t miss out! A limited number of shirts may be available for sale day of ride. USA/CANADA BORDER CROSSING INFORMATION: Riders who opt to go to Canada will enjoy transportation across the St. Clair River by commercial ferry. Your registration packet will contain your ferry ticket, which you must give to the ferry operator for the crossing into Canada. Proof of citizenship is required by US and Canadian Customs. An original birth certificate, baptismal record, or passport is sufficient. Photocopies, voter registration cards or driver licenses are not proof of citizenship. All minors (under 18 years old) must be accompanied by an adult in order to enter Canada and clear customs. Please obey all Ontario traffic laws while riding in Canada. You should allow up to 45 minutes for each border crossing. SAFETY GUIDELINES: The staff of the Blue Water Ramble and The Clinton River Riders are very concerned for your safety. We ask that you and your family follow the following safety guidelines.
REGISTRATION and FEE INFORMATION: Participation is limited to the first 1,200 registered riders. THERE IS NO DAY OF RIDE REGISTRATION. Fees are as follows and must be paid in U.S. funds. We encourage you to register early. Mail in Registration deadline: 9/18/08.
**Family rate: Parent(s) and their dependent children (under the age of 18) residing at the same address. All applications in the same envelope. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS ON ACCEPTED APPLICATIONS. If you cannot participate in the ride, you may have your shirt mailed to you. Send $5 per shirt for postage and handling to the Clinton River Riders by December 31, 2009.
